Czech Republic

Our church, Christ Community Church, has partnered with local ministries in Czech Republic for years. Here's how it works:

Partner:
Dave Patty & Dusan Drabina, Josiah Venture - Partnership began 1999
Pastor Martin Bele, Christian Brethren Church of Pisek-Elim - Partnership began 2000

The Situation:
Ever since the Velvet Revolution in 1989, when the Communist regime was confronted and expelled from Czechoslovakia (later divided into the Czech Republic and Slovakia), the Czech Republic has begun to look more and more like a western European country than a Soviet-era, eastern European country. Literally, with each year passing, the infrastructure improves, commercialism increases and Western influence becomes more and more pervasive. Because of its Communist history, this country that once had extremely strong evangelical church roots is now a post-modern and predominantly atheistic country. For more information about Czech Republic, click here .

The Ministry:
CB of Pisek-Elim, located in the southern Bohemian city of Pisek, is a dynamic church with young leadership that is innovative and energetic. Christ Community has partnered with Elim on various projects, and has sent Go Teams during summer months to lead evangelistic English camps.  Martin Bele is the Senior Pastor of Elim.

Josiah Venture (JV) is a large multi-nation ministry, led by Dave Patty, an American with a long history of ministry within Europe. We partner with the Czech Republic branch of JV called KAM and director Dusan Drabina. JV's mission is to foster "a movement of God among the youth of Eastern Europe that finds its home in the local church and transforms society." They are large in scope and far-reaching in their vision. In recent years, their ministry has included unprecedented access to public television with the wildly popular show titled "Exit 316". On the horizon, Josiah Venture is getting involved in a project with the Czech Ministry of Education helping to develop an ethics program that will be implemented in the public schools. JV is also developing aspects of church planting in most, if not all of its ministry locations.

Results:
CB of Pisek-Elim has hosted many outreach events to build relationships and communicate to the community that "church" is a positive experience and that God is very real and personal.

JV has made incredible inroads in the public arena through such initiatives as EXIT 316, an evangelistic television program that was shown on national television, reaching hundreds of thousands with the good news. JV has trained and discipled hundreds of young leaders, has planted churches and influenced the remnant church that is barely visible in Czech society.

Both of these ministry partners have changed the face of faith in the Czech Republic and are seeing people come to Christ or grow in their understanding of and commitment to the Lord as a result of their ministries.
